Who We Work With

Women's Health

Our doctors commonly work with women experiencing premenstrual syndrome, painful and irregular periods, perimenopausal and menopausal concerns, polycystic ovarian syndrome, and fibrocystic breasts.

Women today are realizing the importance of participating in their health-care decisions to further expand their health potential.  Natural medicines offer safe and effective health-care options for many common conditions such as menopausal, menstrual, breast, and reproductive health.  Naturopathic Doctors work with women to provide comprehensive treatments after time spent in discussion with the patient to provide careful, complete and respectful collection of a history. As well, Naturopathic Doctors educate women and provide resources to expand their self-care potential.

Thyroid Health

When the thyroid gland is unbalanced, we can suffer from a hypothyroid state (underactive thyroid) or hyperthyroid state (overactive thyroid).  If thyroid hormones are deficient or unable to bind to their receptors, all of these processes slow down and a person may feel fatigued, cold, depressed, gain weight easily, have high cholesterol, poor memory, and may have trouble thinking.

When treating thyroid imbalance, Naturopathic Doctors recognize that it is implicated in many women’s health disorders including: PMS, amenorrhea, heavy menstrual bleeding, breast cancer, uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, endometriosis, infertility, postpartum depression and miscarriage.  An underactive thyroid also often accompanies estrogen dominance, progesterone deficiency, and adrenal fatigue.

Cardiovascular Health

Our doctors commonly work with hypertension, high cholesterol, prevention of heart disease, artherosclerosis, and peripheral artery disease.

Each day the heart beats at least 100,00 times and pumps 2,500 to 5,00 gallons of blood through the blood vessels. Without a strong heart and clear vessels, the distribution system falters. Common conditions involving the cardiovascular system include: stroke, atherosclerosis, angina, heart attack, coronary artery disease. Naturopathic doctors can assess your risk of cardiovascular disease and work with you to strengthen this system through the many different modalities available.

Digestive Health

Our doctors commonly work with irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn’s disease, colitis, diverticulitis, hemorrhoids, constipation, liver disease, and GERD/heartburn/acid reflux.

The digestive organs include the mouth and salivary glands, esophagus, stomach, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, small intestines and large intestines. Each organ must be performing optimally for your body to be able to absorb all of its nutrients. For example, if the stomach is unable to produce enough hydrochloric acid, protein and mineral absorption will suffer, leading to deficiencies in iodine, zinc, selenium, magnesium, and calcium, which can weaken our connective tissue.

When managing digestive health, Naturopathic Doctors work with all conditions that affect every part of the digestive tract to ensure that the integrity of the organs is supported and rebuilt.

There are also supplements available to help to shift the metabolism and digestion to make the struggle of weight loss less challenging. Bioimpedance analysis (BIA) is used to assess changes in body composition (changes in water, muscle and fat) to help guide the weight loss process.
